IF YOU CAN DREAM IT - WE CAN DESIGN AND BUILD IT

A Little Slice of Cornwall

Tucked away on Bodmin Moor this handsome house is being erected by husband and wife team (with a little help from their friends).  It has stunning views and sits prettily on a lovely plot.  When you build with one of our frames the instructions we give really are so simple.

Lockdown 3 and the Triangles Continue

A 3 storey triangular house with steel, timber & glass.  The build starts in Lockdown 3.  Is 3 a theme....?

We left site near Wadebridge a few months ago and the client has very kindly shared some photos, here is an update with some from our team too.

Cornish Haven

Down in South Cornwall this handsome house was built in a garden plot.  Sometimes there isn't too much space for our frames before they are erected.

Lockdown 3 Rectangular Panels for a Triangular House

Meanwhile way down West.....Our panels are made to fit, by that I mean they fit not just the house but also the site.  Most of our sites have issues with access, some more than others and this one had them all. Whether it's wires or narrow lanes, steep banks or prohibited parking, we can do it.  Because each house is made by hand, we adjust panel sizes to suit the lorry (or trailer) that delivers and make them easy for the self builder or our teams to erect.  No one wants a 20ft house panel on a tight site.  On all our sites we manage deliveries so that you don't have a huge load to deal with.  You don't need the roof when the ground floor is being erected.  We plan the whole thing around you and your site. This one presents us with a bit of everything.

When Lockdown & Lockdown 2 strikes

We had manufactured the frame for this new build prior to the Lockdown.  The panels were delivered and the country closed.  The panels were wrapped and lived through the hottest Spring and wettest Summer that Cornwall has seen for years.  Then came freedom, not only for us but for the panels!  The build started and as we approach the end of Lockdown 2 we also approach the end of this part of the build.  Hold on to the dream, it will happen in the end.

Dartmoor - Knock It Down, Build It Better

The construction of Shallowford's Ark for the Shallowford Trust.  The task - a self built barn that would be tough enough for children to splash paint and make their own bows and arrows but beautiful enough to hold a wedding.   A timber frame was constructed and beautiful Queen Trusses hand made in our factory and this new "skeleton"  was transported one cold day to the depths of Dartmoor.  The team errecting it had come up specially from the South East of England (all volunteers working on behalf of the Trust).  What a wonderful job they did and I am thankful to them for sharing their photographs of our frame and trusses and how they made this gem come alive.

New Home For Mum & Dad

Before Covid-19 hit we were building a beautiful perfectly formed bungalow in the stunning grounds of a home near the factory in Callington.  The home is going to be for 'mum and dad' to live in.

It is a two bedroom bungalow with carefully thought out rooms to make best use of the space, allowing pocket doors to seamlessly disappear into walls and giving access to spaces with windows aimed at framing the vista in all it's glory.

It will be timber clad in Douglas Fir with a Britmet roof.  Black windows and rainwater detail will give a smart elegant and timeless look.

Covid hit as the roof trusses were due.  We will come back to site when it is safe and hopefully update you with the progress.

We are back on site, the trusses are up, the roof is almost finished and the windows are coming on 8 June.  Whoopee says the client!

New Home South East Cornwall

A new home staying in Cornwall.  This one is only a short drive from where it was made.

Panels were made in the factory and finished Wednesday 16 October 2019.  Our delivery hiab was booked for 9am, promptly loaded and drove the short journey to Tideford.  Despite the large site the lorry couldn't turn in the narrow Cornish lane so the panels were offloaded with the onboard crane.  Neatly stacked on the slab our erection team got to work.  In just a few short hours on the first day we had 11 panels up.  The soleplates went down first, checks made to ensure everything 100% level and off they went.  All in a days work!

To give you an idea of time - the schedule for this build is 8 days.  It would normally be less but the clients were super accommodating and brought the build date forward as another client had groundworks delays and we had to rearrange schedules.  The quick shift meant our roof trusses won't be here until next week - normally it is all timed to perfection but sometimes you have to just let it be what it is.

Carbis Bay New Home

A brand new home in Carbis Bay.  It left our factory today 10 April 2019 and our team are on site to make the dream a reality.  Day 2 and the walls are going up, the weather is being kind. Second floor and steels are due on site next week.  Quick update early May, almost finished at Carbis, there were a few changes - adding a second balcony (and who wouldn't with the views this house has) and moving a structural steel - nothing impossible for our team but it meant we were there a little longer than originally planned.  The roof is all hand cut and is almost too beautiful to slate! My favourite house so far.

We are hoping to get some finished shots of this house very soon as it really is a stunner.  The only downside to our job is that we rarely see the finished product but our lovely clients do like to send us their snaps when they are finally in.

Holiday Cottage New Build
